SPORTSMANSHIP AS CITZENSHIP

The Rose Bowl Institute partnered with national social justice nonprofit RISE to present a bi-coastal critical conversation on the theme of “Sportsmanship as Citizenship.” The event came from two locations – the iconic Rose Bowl Stadium and the ESPN Seaport District Studios in New York at the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge.

WOMEN'S EMPOWERMENT SYMPOSIUM

The Women's Empowerment Symposium at The Rose Bowl Institute helps develop strong female leaders among  high school juniors and seniors and college students.

ROSE TABLE DIALOGUES

Throughout the year the Rose Bowl Institute will convene intimate round table dialogues of 20-25 leaders around a unique Rose Table within the gorgeous Rose Bowl Locker Room. These moderated dialogues will define critical issues relating to sports values and recommend creative yet practical solutions.

Like all other aspects of American society, data and new technologies will continue to impact sports at all levels. From enhancing and evaluating performance to designing new equipment, technological and practical innovations will change sports forever. The Rose Bowl Institute will address ways that these advances can aid in the practice and appreciation of sports.

MANAGING COLLEGIATE ATHLETICS DURING THE PANDEMIC

During 2020 restrictions against playing or gathering for sports occurred at the professional, collegiate, high school and youth league levels. Restrictions were placed on sports by State, local, and league authorities, and by individual teams themselves.

In 2021, as COVID-19 cases and deaths still proliferate, but vaccines are being distributed, how should authorities assess the safety and advisability of playing sports? What criteria should they use? How and when should restrictions be lifted or reimposed?

VOICES for VOTING

During the month of October 2020, to achieve the goal of encouraging young people to vote, the Institute engaged athletes and leaders to voice their encouragements.The Institute’s pillars are Sportsmanship, Leadership and Citizenship. It brings sports values such as integrity, fair play, respect for the opponent and teamwork to the civic sphere, in this case by encouraging everyone of voting age, regardless of background, demographic, or political persuasion, to vote. The Institute has a particular focus on American youth
