It’s easy to celebrate the glories of sporting success, but equally important to understand team dynamics in winning and losing, and the greater role sports values play in our national culture and global community.

Some of the great leaders of all time have come from the world of sports and entertainment and benefited by its lessons. Respected leaders will meet once a year at the venerable Rose Bowl to share their wisdom and insights to coaches, teachers, athletes, students and other attendees. Other activities will include the annual Women’s Empowerment Symposium, and an event honoring Rose Bowl record-holder Jackie Robinson and the values he exemplified.

This conference will consist of two moderated panels of 45 minutes each. The first will address ways that sports influence the broader society with respect to racial discrimination. How can sports be a leading industry in the struggle for inclusion and equity? Panelists will react to the conversations and assertions, followed by a brief question and answer period. The second session will be a panel discussion that includes a player or coach, a professional sports commissioner or owner, and a critic. They will address how sports at all levels can lead in the effort to include people of all races fairly and fully in sports at all levels.
