ROSE BOWL HOSTED COMMUNITY-DRIVEN BACKPACK GIVEAWAY WITH 1,000 DONATED BACKPACKS

PASADENA, Calif. (August 5, 2024) – Yesterday, the Rose Bowl Stadium became the center of community spirit and generosity as it hosted a Backpack Giveaway event in collaboration with Councilmember Tyron Hampton, LOV Olive Branches, the Rose Bowl Legacy Foundation, and the Rose Bowl Institute (RBI). This special event, held on Sunday, August 4th from 12-4 PM, was a testament to the power of partnership and the impact of collective efforts in supporting our local Pasadena community.

The sun shone brightly over the historic stadium as it transformed its parking lot into a vibrant hub of activity and excitement. The event provided 1,000 backpacks, generously provided by the Rose Bowl Legacy Foundation, filled with essential school supplies including notebooks, pencils, and other classroom necessities, aimed at easing the financial burden on families and preparing students for a successful academic year ahead.

As families arrived, they were greeted with a festive atmosphere, complete with music, entertainment, and various interactive activities designed to engage children and parents. Volunteers from all participating organizations were on hand to distribute backpacks, and groceries, graciously donated from Grocery Outlet, assist families, and ensure that everyone had a positive experience.

“It was an honor to partner with Councilmember Tyron Hampton and LOV Olive Branches, bringing the Backpack Giveaway to the Rose Bowl,” said Rose Bowl Legacy Foundation President, Dedan Brozino. “It is important for us to continue influencing our local Pasadena community first and foremost, and having the opportunity to provide tools for educational success continues to be one of our top priorities.”

The response from the community was overwhelmingly positive. Parents expressed their gratitude for the support, while children excitedly chose their new backpacks and eagerly explored its contents. The event not only provided practical supplies but also fostered a sense of community and shared purpose.

The Rose Bowl Stadium and Rose Bowl Legacy Foundation, known around the globe for its rich history and community engagement, once again proved to be a beacon of hope and support.

“Teaching the world how to give needs to be at the heart of every one of us,” said Rose Bowl Institute President James Washington. “This incredible community partnership to support kids and families as they get ready for a successful school year is a great example of the power of teamwork and how we can all give back to inspire others towards greatness.”
