ROSI Awards and Certificates
Each year, under the aegis of its Rose Bowl Sportsmanship Initiative (ROSI), the Rose Bowl Institute will present awards and certificates for outstanding acts of sportsmanship in a particular game, sport, season, or career.
The sportsmanship values to be recognized and encouraged include appreciation for the game, commitment to the team, respect for others (particularly opponents and referees), playing by the rules, and personal integrity.
On the national scale, the Institute will present an award for Sportsperson of the Year, nominated from award winners in professional sports, collegiate, and amateur venues at the Rose Bowl Centennial dinner. The Institute will then expand the ROSI Awards to include specific awards for sportsmanship in college, in amateur sports, and in local communities, and acts of sportsmanship by players, coaches, parents, fans, referees, sports writers, and broadcasters.
Locally, in Pasadena, RBI will present a Certificate of Sportsmanship to the player who best exemplifies the values of sportsmanship in the annual “Turkey Tussle” football game played at the Rose Bowl Stadium between two local high schools.
